Romería da Barca de Muxía

Hundreds of people enjoyed in Muxía the first great festive day of the “Virxe da Barca” Festival

This Friday took place the first great festive day of Muxía’s “Virxe da Barca” Festival, which was enjoyed by hundreds of people from the town and also visitors from all over Galicia and Spain.

After the launch of twenty-one “palenque” fireworks, the streets of this municipal district on the Costa da Morte began to come alive with the vermouth session featuring Disco Móvil CDC, as well as with the parades of the bagpipe group Mistura Fol and the Charanga NBA. Precisely the members of this group were in charge of opening the celebrations with the reading of the traditional speech.

The long-awaited speech took place at 9:00 p.m. in the Praza do Cabo da Vila, where the members of the “charanga” group thanked the locals “for having welcomed them and made them enjoy” the almost forty uninterrupted years that they have been coming to the town to liven up the festivities.

After the speech, and with the event already officially inaugurated, a long night of partying began with the performance of the pop-rock group Carlos Bau and 80 Razones, which made the entire audience sing out loud with their interpretation of songs from the 80s and 90s.

After the concert of this band, a macro DJ session began that lasted for hours, in which the disc-jockeys Toni Seijas, Rafa Astray, Jaygo, Roquiño and the Disco Móvil CDC participated.

The Olympus Orchestra and a great fireworks display will be the main protagonists tonight

The festivities of the “Virxe da Barca” Festival, which have the support of the Xunta de Galicia, will continue today on a day that, once again, is expected to be hugely popular. The liturgies will play a prominent role throughout the day, with Masses being celebrated at the Sanctuary of “Nuestra Señora da Barca” at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 18:00, 19:00 and 20:00.

On a recreational level, apart from the traditional parades with giants and bigheads, midday will be enlivened with a vermouth session starring the Atenas group, which will repeat the night festival with the Olympus Orchestra. The members of this group, one of the most important in Galicia, will offer their acclaimed show RED-VOLUTION Tour in Muxía.

The highlight of the day will come after midnight, at 00:30 hours, with the great fireworks session, which will allow attendees to enjoy one of the best pyrotechnic shows in all of Galicia.

The festival, which has the support of the Xunta de Galicia, commemorates this year the 35th anniversary of its declaration as an event of National Tourist Interest in 1989.
